To make this card, here's what I used and how I did it:
5 x 7 inch black cs
1/4 and 1/8 inch ds tape
VersaMark watermark pad
Mementos ink pad in Tuxedo Black
Artist paint brush
paint mixing tray
Stickles Star Dust glitter glue
Brown Sugar ep
Faded Text Background (Stampabilities)
Single Rose/Plain 3 (Viva Las Vegastamps)
Parchment paper stamp (QKR)
Flourish corner (Inkadinkado)
After stamping the parchment paper on water color paper, fussy cut. Cover bottom of parchment paper with a scrap of paper and stamp rose (rose is long stemmed). Use a single pink and a single green Copic to lay down a base color for the petals and leaves. With the tiniest amount of Smooch ink, use artist's brush and mixing tray to dilute with water. Apply colors sparingly. Even diluted, a little goes a very long way. Using Smooch gold, dilute and create the ancient effect around the rose and to create shadows where the parchment rolls up. Allow to dry and highlight the rose and leaves with Stickles. Set this aside for now. On black cs, stamp the text background, add Brown Sugar ep and heat set. Add 1/4 and 1/8 inch double sided tape down left side and across the top. Sprinkle with Gold ep and heat set. Add flourish to lower right corner, sprinkle with Gold ep and heat set. Now attach rose/parchment paper to black cs. Attach to card base.
Note: I'm not used to working with watercolors. I did experiment and practice coloring the rose on scraps of watercolor paper first. Since I don't have watercolor products, I substituted with Copics. I was able to create the effect I wanted, but it would probably be better to use the correct watercolor products. For those of you who are an old hand at working with watercolors, this will be a snap. You may be able to achieve the look you want using just the Smooch inks.
